Aston Villa Club History
It is a while since Aston Villa were relevant in Premier League outright odds, but this is a club with a healthy trophy cabinet throughout its 149-year history.
Villa were one of the 12 founding members of the Football League, and enjoyed considerable success in the latter years of the 19th century, winning several league titles.
Villa played a seismic role in the professionalisation of the sport, and in the 1930s, they set a record which still stands for the most goals in a season.
From early dominance, Villa slipped away from the top of English football in the following decades, even falling to the third tier in 1970.
Just 11 years later, however, they added a seventh league title and were the fourth English club to be crowned Champions of Europe in the following season.

Only one team can better Villa’s mark of 109 seasons in the topflight of English football. The club has also provided over 70 internationals for England, which ranks among the most of any team.
Prior to a two-year spell in the Championship in 2016-17 and 2017-18, the Midlands club had been in the highest division since 1989.
Charlie Aitken holds the club record for the most appearances with 559. Billy Walker, who has to settle for second on the appearances chart, has scored the most goals for the club.
Villa have a loyal and sizeable following, but they have been unable to treat their fans to much success in the 21st century.
The club had a run of top six finishes at the end of the 2000s, though they have frequently been embroiled in relegation battles and have frequently been forced into selling important players, including Jack Grealish for £100 million.

Aston Villa Competitions This Season
Aston Villa’s future in Premier League betting appeared under threat for part of 2021-22. The club secured another campaign in the topflight, however, ensuring they are an option in the Premier League when you look to bet on football.
Alongside the day-to-day of league action, the Villains also started the season with a place in the Second Round of the League Cup and Third Round of the FA Cup.

Villa knocked Bolton Wanderers out of the League Cup in August, but were eliminated from the competition by Manchester United in November. Their FA Cup campaign began in early January against Stevenage.
Their league season started slowly with four defeats from their first five matches, but Villa found some form under Unai Emery, winning three of their four Premier League fixtures prior to the World Cup hiatus.
