Leeds United vs Tottenham Tips

It is a simple equation for Leeds. They must win to stand a chance of safety. They also need Everton to lose and Leicester to fail to win.

The sports betting odds are stacked against Sam Allardyce’s side, but at least they have the benefit of facing a Tottenham team with little to play for. That is, of course, unless the north London club are desperate to be in next season’s Europa Conference League.

Tyler Adams, Stuart Dallas and Luis Sinisterra are ruled out for the hosts. Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo are doubts, leaving Allardyce with limited options in the final third.

Spurs were rejected by Arne Slot in the week, extending what has been a humiliating search for a new manager.

Harry Kane’s future is discussed on a daily basis, and they have failed to win in their last seven away matches.

Leeds have claimed 22 of their 31 points at Elland Road, and home advantage should be bolstered further with their fans aiming to be the 12th man in their fight against the drop.

Allardyce claims he has no regrets about taking the Leeds job, even if things don’t go their way this weekend (projections give them less than a 10% chance of staying up).

"It was always going to be a difficult task. Lots of people said I’m mad for taking it. I’m not mad. I just love football and Leeds United was too big a job to turn down for me, however short it was.

"The challenge is to try to beat Tottenham and deliver a performance. We’ll give ourselves a chance if we win and then see what happens. Our only hope is to win that game.

"If we don’t make it in the end it’s a case of trying to do your best for the club. I can only try my best and give the players the right instructions to show them how win a game of football. Unfortunately for me and for them it hasn’t worked yet."

Staying up is a longshot, mainly due to the likelihood of Everton and/or Leicester doing enough.

A win is a good bet for the Whites here, though, particularly at 7/4. Spurs have been abysmal away from home.

Tottenham Outright Betting This Season

888Sport betting markets tab Tottenham as the third-best Premier League team heading into the new season, yet there’s a chasm between the Lilywhites and the top two.

Spurs are way out at 14/1 to win their first Premier League title even after a summer of considerable investment in the first team squad, including Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Ivan Perisic.

Spurs are 4/7 to finish in the top four as they aim to build on a strong second half of 2021-22 under Antonio Conte.

Harry Kane and Heung-min Son are two of the preseason favourites for PFA Player of the Year at 11/1 and 16/1 respectively, and Kane is in at 6/1 to win the Golden Boot after Son took the honour last term.

Elsewhere, Spurs are 8/1 to win the FA Cup and the same price for the EFL Cup. Conte is unlikely to prioritise these competitions, but they have the necessary squad depth to be competitive even if they rotate, which wasn’t the case in prior seasons.

The Champions League is where a lot of attention will be on Spurs and Conte. The Italian has traditionally struggled in the competition – how will he fare in 2022-23? Is this the year Conte takes his team a long way into the knockouts?
